Please remember that Mainvest does not provide tax, legal, or accounting advice. At the beginning of the year, Mainvest will provide information that may be useful in filling out a 1099-INT if needed, but will not provide tax advice or documents to investors nor to issuers. More information on reporting interest income can be found here.

If you received a repayment in 2022, information regarding interest vs. principal amount repaid can be found within the Annual Summary in the Portfolio section of investor dashboards.

You may have received a request from portfolio businesses to provide additional documentation in order for issuers to prepare tax documents. All issuers handle tax documents independently according to their CPAs, so it is possible that issuers may not issue 1099-INTs, may issue 1099-INTs only at a certain level of repayment, or may not issue them at all. Mainvest does not prepare tax documents.

If you have questions please do not hesitate to reach out to Mainvest support. As always, we encourage you to consult with your own tax advisor or accountant when completing taxes as we are unable to provide advice or guidance.
